Welcome

I offer individual and group counselling and psychotherapy to adults and youth.
During the last 25 years I have been helping children, youth and adults with understanding their mental health and finding ways to cope and move forward in their life.
My services are geared to work alongside you to reduce and heal the impacts of all that you have experienced or struggled with. I use a range of evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical approaches, working with diverse needs, from anti-oppressive/anti-racist and strengths-based perspectives.
I look forward to meeting you,
-Angela Hammond (she/her), BSW, MSW, RSW

What Does it Mean to Hold Space for Another Person?

It means that we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they're on without judging them, making them feeling inadequate, trying to fix them, or trying to impact the outcome. When we hold space for other people, we open our hearts, offer unconditional support, and let go of judgement and control. --Heather Plett

Services

Adult Individual Counselling

Psychotherapy gives individuals an opportunity to dive into the stories of their lives and do the hard work of healing in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

This work can have many benefits including a better understanding of yourself, healing from the past, increased positive coping strategies, improved relationships, clarification of values and goals, and post-traumatic growth, among others.

Psychotherapy is a transformative process that takes time and courage. I look forward to discovering how I can support you in this endeavour.

Youth Counselling

Youth are often in situations where they feel alone and cut off from supports.

If you are a youth and feel depressed or anxious; worried or angry; being bullied; feeling like you might hurt yourself; having trouble at home or school then you’ve come to the right place.

I can work with you to help address these and other mental health issues and challenges.

We come up with a plan together, based on your needs.

Specialty Areas:

Mental Health

Our Mental Health is important but often we don't prioritize it. We tend to do more symptom management. I work with you to better understand our mental health, discover new strategies and tools to help and ways we can heal our emotions.

Common Mental Health Areas of Support:

Anxiety
Panic & Phobia

Depression
Suicidal Thoughts
Self Harm

Self-Esteem

Self-Confidence

Shame & Guilt

Stress

Chronic Pain

Emotional Dysregulation

Grief & Loss

Parenting Challenges

Trauma

Unresolved trauma can show up in many ways in our lives. I want to hear your stories and experiences. If it is safe to do so, we will learn about where the trauma stems from and understand how early relationships can affect our healthy development. I make you aware of how trauma impacts our nervous system and offer psycho-education throughout the therapy sessions so you can better understand trauma and make a plan to move forward.

Grief & Loss

Though grief is natural, many of us can get lost in the grieving process.

In grief and loss therapy, I will work with you and your unique situation to navigate through your loss in a healthy way.

Addiction

I view addictions compassionately, as a symptom of unresolved emotional pain or trauma. I support you in the journey towards processing and healing the underlying hurt that makes you choose addictions as a coping strategy. Together, we can build the emotional regulation, distress tolerance and impulsive management skills that can reduce the reliance on addictions.

I will try to support you to navigate the complex interplay of shame, triggers, anxiety, codependency, body sensations, and relationship dynamics and relapse patterns.
